SPOT hosted an Advanced Advocacy Strategies workshop on Monday, May 21st, featuring Renay Zamloot, Education Advocate. She shared techniques for negotiating without arguing, the art of applying the law to secure needed services, and how to redirect counterproductive dialogue. We learned how to organize documents and how to write letters that get results. The emphasis was on learning to become an effective and equal member of the IEP process. Handouts from her presentation can be downloaded from our resources page. Renay Zamloot is not an attorney and her ideas should not be construed as legal advice.

Mrs. Hayer is a member of the NJ State Special Education Advisory Council, the NJ Council on Developmental Disabilities, COPAA (Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates) and is also Vice-President of the Hackensack Board of Education.
